My Writing

Aside from working as a one-on-one counsellor, I also write about ways people can improve their social lives and self-confidence:

SucceedSocially.com

I created and run the website SucceedSocially.com, a totally free collection of articles on overcoming social awkwardness. I started it in 2006, before I went to grad school to train as a therapist. I struggled with shyness and loneliness myself growing up, and wanted to create the kind of resource I wish I'd had when I was younger.

Over the years the most common piece of feedback I've gotten from readers is that they appreciate its straightforward, honest tone, and that it's clearly written from the perspective of someone who knows what it's like to be awkward themselves. It's been visited by millions of people in the nearly two decades it's been around.

The Social Skills Guidebook

In 2016 I published a book based on my site's writing - The Social Skills Guidebook. It's an in-depth guide on dealing with shyness, making better conversation, and building friendships, aimed at readers who feel behind in those areas.
